This week’s rains raised Lake Lanier by more than two feet, but action in Washington today could prove just as important in Georgia’s struggle to keep Atlanta’s primary drinking water reservoir full.
Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court are scheduled to discuss in their private conference whether they will grant Georgia’s petition of certiorari from a lower court decision that struck down the state’s 2003 agreement with federal authorities that set aside a portion of Lake Lanier to supply drinking water needs for millions of metro Atlantans.
