In 2007, US Airways Express pulled out of Athens-Ben Epps Airport, leaving the University of Georgia’s home city without regularly scheduled commercial flights.
The barren landscape for passenger airline service didn’t last long, as two companies have since jumped into the market and are providing daily service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from Athens and Macon.
