With half of its 18 offices located outside the United States, Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker often boasts about its global reach. But starting next month, the firm will no longer help clients move people from country to country.

The firm’s 17-lawyer immigration practice group, which is centered in Atlanta, will split from the firm Feb. 17 to join a San Francisco boutique, Berry Appleman & Leiden. The new firm, with about 60 attorneys, will be called BAL Global Corporate Immigration.
