Rickety elevators, unpaid investigative lawyers and the possibility of a more expensive bar exam are some of the effects budget cuts are forcing in the judiciary, lawmakers heard last week.

The Supreme Court of Georgia is facing a budget cut of $751,023 for the fiscal year that starts July 1. That would represent an 8.5 percent cut from the court’s $8.8 million budget for the current fiscal year.
