ATLANTA AP – One of three former Atlanta police officers who pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge in the death of an elderly woman during a botched drug raid testified Monday he was so intent on getting drugs off the street that he lost perspective.
Jason R. Smith, 36, told a federal judge his moral compass was knocked off balance. Smith is accused of providing false information to obtain the “no-knock” warrant for a raid on the home of 92-year-old Kathryn Johnston.
