A Senate committee on Tuesday afternoon rejected Gov. Sonny Perdue’s attempt to provide immunity from product-liability suits to Georgia companies whose products have Food and Drug Administration approval.

The Senate Economic Development Committee voted 7-4 to reject the legislation, Senate Bill 101. Two Republicans-B. Seth Harp Jr. of Midland and Jeff Mullis of Chickamauga-joined the committee’s five Democrats in attendance Tuesday in rejecting the measure.
