Please reference the March 3 article, “Traffic trial ‘disaster’ led to fitness denial. The story is about a state Supreme Court decision, In Re Marilyn Ringstaff, No. S08Z1544, in which the court revived a Rome woman’s efforts to take the bar exam. The Board to Determine Fitness of Bar Applicants had rejected her application, saying she had shown a disrespect for the law.
Staff reporter Alyson Palmer phoned me prior to the article being printed. Ms. Palmer’s quotation of what I told her was accurate. I could have, however, stated my official position as chairman of the Fitness Board at the time of the applicant’s informal interview a little better.
