As associate director of career services at Emory University School of Law, Lori L. Garrett fielded so many calls from displaced transactional attorneys seeking positions as corporate counsel that she developed a passion for in-house legal career development. So when a recruiter called her looking for recommendations for an open position of managing director of the Southeast region for the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, she decided to apply for the job herself.
Garrett started last month with the Washington-based organization that advocates for hiring, promotion and retention of minority attorneys in corporate legal departments and their law firms. She works in donated space at the offices of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell at the Proscenium, located at 1170 Peachtree St.
