Before celebrating a milestone birthday more than two years ago, Atlanta attorney Michael R. Wing decided it was time to do something about his excess weight. The 6-foot-5-inch partner at Greenberg Traurig had ballooned to more than 300 pounds.

“I was facing my 40th birthday and it seemed like it was time to get cranked up more in the way of fitness,” said Wing, now 42. “One of my friends at work and my wife conspired to get me to see a personal trainer. I started out doing some cardio and weight training and resistance training.”
