FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. AP – A Florida accountant charged in a federal tax investigation of Swiss banking giant UBS AG is being released on $12 million bail.

A federal magistrate set bail Wednesday for 55-year-old Steven Michael Rubinstein. The Boca Raton accountant is the first U.S. citizen charged in a wide-ranging probe into wealthy Americans’ hidden assets at UBS. The Internal Revenue Service is also seeking the names of some 52,000 U.S. citizens who may have dodged taxes using UBS accounts.
