Judges, prosecutors and public defenders in Gwinnett County are formulating plans for severe cutbacks in service after the county commission asked for 9 percent budget cuts.
District Attorney Daniel J. “Danny” Porter said some minor felonies will not be prosecuted as a result of the budget cuts. Hourly pay rates for public defenders likely will be trimmed. No final decisions on any of the proposed budget cuts have been made, according to several officials with the county and the court system.
