For my money, the Judd Apatow-ing of American movie comedy hasn’t been, well, a barrel of laughs.

OK, I’m a big fan of “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.” But “Knocked Up” gave me the willies with its fantasized version of how a schlub like Seth Rogen could end up with lovely and supposedly intelligent, ambitious, etc. Katherine Heigl. And there are others, which he had a hand in as producer or writer or something, none of which connected with me A true nadir: the script for last summer’s Adam Sandler debacle, “Don’t Mess With the Zohan”.
