Gov. Sonny Perdue will announce his pick for the Supreme Court of Georgia today at 11:30 a.m. Perdue is filling a slot on the high court created by the retirement of former Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears. Perdue will announce his decision at the State Capitol.

On June 30, the Judicial Nominating Commission gave Perdue its short list of nine candidates: Atlanta solo practitioner James P. Kelly III, Macon appellate lawyer Stephen Louis A. Dillard, U.S. Attorney David E. Nahmias, Alcovy Circuit Superior Court Judge Samuel D. Ozburn, Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge William M. Ray II, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Craig L. Schwall Sr., Cobb County Superior Court Judge Mary E. Staley, Henry County State Court Judge Benjamin W. Studdard III and Sutherland partner Rocco E. Testani.
