WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. AP-A jury found Ford Motor Co. responsible Thursday for the crippling injuries a Boca Raton woman suffered in a crash, awarding her and her husband nearly $10.4 million in damages.
Donna Grimes, left a quadriplegic when her Ford Explorer was struck from behind in 2001, was not in court when the jury announced its verdict after about 11 hours of deliberation over three days. The 66-year-old’s attorneys said the reclining mechanism in her seat failed, catapulting her backward and snapping her neck when her head hit the back seat.
