DLA PIPER has raised its starting salary in Atlanta to $135,000 and bumped up pay by $10,000 across the board for its associates, said the office’s managing partner, Mark E. Grantham. The firm, which opened an Atlanta office last year, made the decision late last week and the raises are retroactive to Jan. 1, Grantham said in an email. The firm has nine associates in Atlanta.

DLA Piper becomes the second Atlanta office to announce a starting salary of $135,000, following Jones Day’s decision last week to increase starting salaries here to $135,000. Alston & Bird and King & Spalding last week increased associate salaries here by $15,000, with first-years now starting at $130,000, after Troutman Sanders announced an associate pay hike the previous week that upped starting pay to $125,000. The Atlanta offices of several other firms quickly followed their lead and increased associate pay, with first years starting at $130,000, including Morris Manning & Martin, Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker and Holland & Knight.
