I READ with interest my friend J. Randolph Evans’ guest column “Bar should be above partisan politics,” June 13. Without question, we agree that the State Bar should be above partisan politics. This has always been the bar’s position and will remain so under my presidency.

Let me take this opportunity to thank Randy for his long and active dedicated service both to the State Bar of Georgia and as general counsel to the Georgia Republican Party, as a member of the Board of Governors of the Republican National Lawyers Association and as chairman of the boards of the Newt Gingrich and J. C. Watts Companies.
