THE STATE SUPREME COURT would be expanded to 13 justices, under a proposal introduced Wednesday by a group of powerful Republican state senators.

Senate Resolution 370, which would amend the state constitution, would have voters from each of the state’s 13 congressional districts elect a justice to the state Supreme Court. The measure was sponsored a group of Republicans, include Senate President Pro Tem Eric Johnson, R-Savannah, and majority leader Tommie Williams, R-Lyons.
