A VOTING RIGHTS CASE that split a panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals this week is a likely candidate for review by the full appeals bench or the U.S. Supreme Court, said Atlanta lawyer Anne W. Lewis.

In Tuesday’s decision, a panel voted 2-1 to revive a suit by black voters in Florida who say their county’s system of electing local leaders squelches the voting power of minorities.
