OSCAR BUZZ IS already building for “Michael Clayton,” the legal thriller starring George Clooney as a law firm’s special counsel who “fixes” things. Like three-in-the-morning hit-and-runs in Westchester County, or a senior litigator the ever fine Tom Wilkinson seemingly gone berserk. Opening in select markets today and spreading nationwide next week, the film was written and directed by Tony Gilroy, who wrote the hugely successful “Bourne” movies.

Given that he also wrote “The Devil’s Advocate,” in which the senior partner at a prestigious law firm was, quite literally, the Devil played by a ranting Al Pacino I wondered if he had something against lawyers.
