BALCH & BINGHAM IS EXPANDING its health care practice with the addition of John Markus, who has spent the last three and a half years as the chief compliance officer for HealthSouth Corp., a Balch client.
Markus, 56, joined HealthSouth in early 2004 to put a federally mandated regulatory compliance program in place, after the ouster of former CEO Richard Scrushy and other top management in an accounting scandal for which they were accused of overstating earnings.
