STEPHEN B. KAPLAN, senior attorney for CompuCredit, has been working two full-time jobs lately. First, there’s his compliance-focused work in the 11-member legal department of the company, which provides credit cards, auto loans, micro loans and other financial services to the “underserved and unbanked market.” Then there’s his volunteer work, which at the moment focuses on a fundraising event taking place next Monday at the Atlanta Country Club.

The first Association of Corporate Counsel Georgia chapter golf and tennis tournament will benefit the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, which matches nonprofit organizations benefiting low income individuals with lawyers-particularly in-house lawyers-who want to donate their time. Kaplan is expecting about 30 in-house lawyers to play in the tennis tournament and upward of 100 to play in the golf event-with a $165 entry fee.
