DESPITE RECENT RUMORS to the contrary, SunTrust’s agreement to buy the parent company of Gainesville Bank & Trust could mean the Atlanta banking giant is in no mood to be gobbled up by a larger bank.
The deal also shows SunTrust has an eye for a bargain. Pending approval from regulatory agencies and shareholders, SunTrust will buy the Gainesville banking company for a price based barely above the stock’s 52-week low.
