ATLANTA AP – Radiant Systems Inc., a maker of touch-screen point-of-sale systems, on Thursday posted weaker-than-expected revenue in the third quarter, sending shares down more than 13 percent, despite reporting a 21 percent rise in profit.
Net income for the three months ended Sept. 30 rose to $2.9 million, or 9 cents per share, from $2.4 million, or 8 cents per share, in the prior-year period. Excluding charges, Radiant earned $6.3 million, or 19 cents per share, up 28 percent from $4.9 million, or 15 cents per share, a year ago. On that basis, analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected earnings of 19 cents per share on revenue of $65.6 million.
