Lawyers from King & Spalding and Rogers & Hardin are working on Synovus Financial Corp.’s proposed tax-free spin-off of Total System Services Inc.

According to King & Spalding, firm partners John J. Kelley III and C. William Baxley are lead counsel to Synovus, the banking company that owns 80.8 percent of Total System Services. Rogers & Hardin partners Alan C. Leet and David G. Thunhorst are counsel to a special independent committee of the Total System Services board. Both Synovus and Total System Services, which does business under the name TSYS, are headquartered in Columbus.
