CHARLESTON, W.Va. AP – Lawyers of various stripes provided at least one-fourth of the $584,000 that West Virginians have contributed to 2008 presidential candidates, the largest single source of Mountain State funds, Federal Election Commission filings show.
The profession, particularly its plaintiffs bar, has been particularly helpful for the overall money leader in West Virginia. At least one of every three dollars contributed to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., has been from lawyers and their spouses.
