THE STATE’S HIGHEST court heard a case Monday that’s gotten the attention of a host of power companies.
The specific dispute before the Supreme Court of Georgia is between Georgia Power and the middle Georgia county of Monroe. The two are fighting over around $4 million-the difference between what the power company would have owed Monroe in property taxes under the state’s appraised value of its property in the county and the bill ultimately issued by Monroe.
