A comprehensive plan for managing Georgia’s water supply doesn’t soothe the fears of some people outside Atlanta that the state’s largest metro area will bleed dry their water resources, some environmentalists and attorneys say.
The plan, blessed last week by Gov. Sonny Perdue, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and House Speaker Glenn Richardson, was created after years of research by Georgia’s head environmental official and a special committee. Their goals was to formulate a strategy for analyzing and managing the state’s water resources.
