People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive twice doesn’t owe anyone anything. He’s made a string of conscionable complex films, some of which have won Oscars and others merely Oscar nominations. Even his backhanded escapist stuff, like the first “Ocean’s Eleven,” has always had a certain sheen.
