The justices of the Supreme Court of Georgia on Monday revealed few clues as to how they will handle what may be the most hotly contested attorney discipline matter in recent memory.

At stake are the fates of Atlanta personal injury lawyers Steve F. Freedman and Thomas C. Sinowski. Since 2002, the two partners have been fighting the State Bar of Georgia’s efforts to have them removed from the practice of law for using so-called “runners” to drum up business in the 1990s.
