The fight over Georgia’s tort laws, which was focused on hospitals and doctors’ offices, has shifted to strawberry patches and hunting areas.

Taking advantage of a Republican-led Legislature that has made it harder for plaintiffs in medical malpractice cases, Gov. Sonny Perdue is pushing a bill that would give to owners of pick-your-own fruit and vegetable farms, as well as hunting plantation owners, broad immunity from negligence lawsuits.
