Luis A. Aguilar’s experience in the mutual fund industry should prepare him well for a possible stint on the Securities and Exchange Commission in what could be a tumultuous time for the agency, several Atlanta securities attorneys said.
President Bush last week nominated Aguilar, a McKenna Long & Aldridge partner, to be an SEC commissioner. U.S. Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, the Senate Democratic leader, submitted Aguilar’s name to the White House. The SEC is comprised of five members, two of whom cannot be members of the current president’s party.
