THIS YEAR’S RACE FOR a contested seat on the Supreme Court of Georgia is still not the most expensive appeals court race in state history. But with four weeks and one day before Election Day, Presiding Justice Carol W. Hunstein has nearly doubled the funds raised when now-Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears fought off a challenger in 2004.

Hunstein’s campaign disclosure filed with the State Ethics Commission on Friday shows that she’s raised $770,396 in cash to date, $537,426 of that in the last three months. That leaves her with $710,832.08 on hand, according to the report.
