SOARING OIL PRICES, bloated labor costs, and dwindling market share have prompted speculation about whether General Motors Corp. might soon file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Though GM says it has no such plans, that hasn’t stopped bankruptcy lawyers from buzzing about who might get the work. An informal survey of restructuring partners at various firms points to two probable contenders: Kirkland & Ellis and Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
