TWO YEARS after a boisterous judicial season, the deadline by which candidates had to file papers passed June 30 with only one statewide incumbent facing opposition.
State Supreme Court Presiding Justice Carol W. Hunstein has a challenger-former U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice lawyer J. Michael Wiggins. That race could get hot-as the president of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce has cited data he said suggests that Hunstein and Justices George H. Carley and Hugh P. Thompson are biased against business. Carley, Thompson and Justice Harold D. Melton are unopposed, however.
