ATLANTA AP – Voters ousted U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney in Tuesday’s runoff while former Department of Human Resources director Jim Martin secured the Democratic nomination for the state’s No. 2 job.

McKinney’s get-out-the-vote machine sputtered Tuesday as she only earned 41 percent of the vote against challenger Hank Johnson, a former DeKalb County commissioner whose campaign gained momentum after her infamous scuffle with a Capitol Hill police officer in March.
