“I can’t believe Cal Smith is under 40,” Steven J. Klinger says. “He looks like he’s about 10 years old.”
The boyish appearance of Troutman Sanders partner William C. “Cal” Smith III wasn’t the only reason Klinger was surprised when he was reminded that Smith’s age is 37. Smith also “has a combination of skills you don’t find very often” in someone under the age of 40, says Klinger, president and chief operating officer of Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. “He’s a collaborator and he’s a leader.”
