A REPORT COMMISSIONED by the Georgia Institute of Technology states that the school needs two things from the state government: More money and fewer regulations.

Such changes could help the state of Georgia rise from second-tier status in the world of high technology and become a key player in the global economy, said Huron Consulting Group, which performed the study that was funded by local companies such as Southern Co., BellSouth, Scientific-Atlanta, EarthLink and Internet Security Systems. Along with three foundations, other companies that funded the study were Bank of America, C.B. Richard Ellis, Waffle House and Moseley-Kelly-French Corp.
