A BATTLE OVER JUDICIAL ELECTIONS is set to begin when the General Assembly reconvenes next month-but who will be fighting is not completely clear.

The State Bar of Georgia is poised to back a plan by Rep. Edward H. Lindsey Jr., R-Atlanta, for public funding of judicial elections, restricting political parties’ activity in nonpartisan elections, requiring Supreme Court justices to recuse from certain cases, and limiting the activities of independent committees in elections.
