Merle Temple Jr. wanted to have it both ways, according to prosecutors. He cut a deal to testify against his ex-boss and lover, former state school superintendent Linda C. Schrenko. Then, for 18 months, while he fed prosecutors information they needed to convict her, Temple continued to communicate with Schrenko – even coaching her on how her lawyer should cross-examine him at trial.
