Now the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce is pondering another marketing long shot-this time to propel the region into a leading role on the world’s advanced technology stage.

The Chamber field-tested the idea at a kick-off meeting for a new Technology Marketing Council with bioscience and technology executives last week. It presented a proposal for a sophisticated Web portal that would cost between $100,000 and $200,000 to build, according to David Hartnett, the Chamber’s vice president for technology development. With that in place, a drive to attract venture capital funding and new companies would begin.
