JULIAN A. FORTUNA has joined Duane Morris’s Atlanta office as a partner from InterContinental Hotels Group, where he was a vice president and general tax counsel. In his 11 years at IHG, he provided tax counsel on mergers, acquisitions, construction projects, leases, sales and other transactions and oversaw tax planning for projects involving cross-border financing and captive insurance.

David H. Pope has become the new director of the Georgia and Alabama office of the Southern Environmental Law Center, and William W. Sapp has joined the office as a senior attorney. The former director, Ciannat Howett Marose, took a post as head of sustainablity initiatives at Emory University last fall. Pope, previously a partner at Carr, Tabb & Pope, has 29 years of trial experience, which includes significant judgments in environmental and toxic tort cases. He has worked with the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper on cases and as a board member.
