JUST BEFORE THE TRIAL in the mortgage fraud case against Phillip E. Hill Sr. began two weeks ago, the state’s highest court disbarred one of the government’s witnesses in the case.

That witness is Cumming real estate closing attorney J. Christopher Halcomb, one of four lawyers whose voluntary surrender of his law license was accepted by the Supreme Court of Georgia in January. The other lawyers were Daniel G. Calugar of Las Vegas, Mark Robert Pronk of Acworth and Michael MacAskill Hipe of Lawrenceville.
