After about 14 years in the job and 31 years at the court, Sherie M. Welch will retire in July from her position as clerk of the Supreme Court of Georgia.
The justices of the court appoint their clerk, who maintains the court’s records and is the court’s fiscal officer, to terms of six years. A statement by the state Supreme Court’s public information officer said Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears said the court has not set a timetable or process for the selection of Welch’s replacement.
