The Virginia-based firm traces its roots to 1834. In 1998, in an expansion that included Chicago, Charlotte, N.C., and Jacksonville, Fla., predecessor firm McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe opened an Atlanta office. In 2011 the firm signed a lease for two floors in Midtowns Promenade building, located at Peachtree and 15th streets. The firm is moving from in the Proscenium building at 1170 Peachtree St. William B. Marianes, McGuireWoods Atlanta managing partner, said in a statement that the new lease, which includes expansion options, will give his group more space and an upgraded technology platform. The Atlanta office has 81 employees, of whom 47 are lawyers.
