Kilpatrick had expected revenue to fall in 2009, but not by 11 percentmore than double its prediction. To cope, the firm laid off 87 support staff and 24 associates and counsel in 2009, closed its London office and imposed 10 percent, across-the-board pay cuts for all associates. But a landmark settlement with legal fees that could go as high as $100 million may recharge Kilpatrick’s depleted coffers in 2010.
