Ford & Harrison bounced back last year after a lackluster 2010, reaping the benefit of more efficient management practices. “Our billings went up and we did a better job collecting what we billed,” said the firm’s managing partner, C. Lash Harrison, who said there were fewer write-offs both before and after bills were sent. Harrison had predicted the revenue increase and a jump in profit a year ago, after the firm tightened its billing practices and thinned lawyer ranks in 2010. Harrison described the labor and employment firm’s work last year as “lots of singles and a few big engagements,” which included advising Delta Air Lines in several union elections. This year the firm is restructuring labor contracts for American Airlines, which is in bankruptcy, and advising United Airlines on the integration of its union work force after its merger with Continental Airlines.
