In 2007 ABA Publishing released Raise the Bar – Real World Solutions for a Troubled Profession that contained a chapter I wrote titled “Pig in a Poke? – The Uncertain Advantages of Very Large and Highly Leveraged Law Firms.” The chapter and the book focused on working conditions in the legal profession and how they might be improved.
Since that time, other problems with large and highly leveraged law firms have become apparent as a result of the demise of several of our largest and most highly regarded business practice firms. Why are these law firms collapsing, and can we expect more of the same?
