A judge has handed down a strongly worded opinion in favor of a northeastern Pennsylvania plaintiffs attorney whose clients, he concluded, tried to avoid paying his contingency fee on a $4.6 million settlement by, among other things, filing a complaint with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel and threatening to call the police.

Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas Judge Carmen Minora’s 31-page opinion, in which he ordered two Pennsylvania women to pay attorney Nicholas Fick his one-third contingency and sanctioned them to pay for Fick’s own attorney fees, came with no shortage of harsh words for Teresa Perrini and Theresa Koziell. The plaintiffs were represented by Benjamin Andersen of Powell Trachtman Logan Carrle & Lombardo.
