A state administrative law judge Monday ruled that Clarence Johnson, the lawyer running to unseat Fulton County Superior Court Judge D. Todd Markle, is ineligible to run because Johnson owes back taxes. But the same judge turned down a challenge to another candidate, ruling that part-time juvenile court judge Willie Saunders can remain on the ballot in Augusta, where he is trying to unseat Augusta Circuit Superior Court Judge J. Carlisle Overstreet.

Another administrative law judge found last week that Danielsville attorney J. Christopher NeSmith, who was running for the seat of Northern Circuit Superior Court Judge Thomas Hodges, was ineligible due to his unpaid taxes. NeSmith confirmed that he has already withdrawn his name from the July 31 ballot.
