On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to express condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of longtime DeKalb County Probate Judge William Marion Guess of Stone Mountain on his recent passing.
During his 32 years as probate court judge, he emerged as a leader among his peers, serving as president of the National College of Probate Court Judges and the Georgia Council of Probate Court Judges. A recipient of the William W. Treat Award from the National College of Probate Judges for his contributions to probate law and selected by his colleagues as the 2001 Outstanding Probate Court Judge of the Year, Judge Guess was also owner and operator of Georgia Probate Notes and authored numerous books.
